Abstract Does algorithmic political bias contribute to an entrenchment and polarization of positions? Franke ( Philosophy Technology , 35, 7, 2022) argues that it may do so because the involves classifications people as liberals, conservatives, etc., individuals often conform ways in which they are classified. I provide a novel example this phenomenon human–computer interactions introduce social psychological mechanism (what shall call ‘implied labeling’) has been overlooked context but should be experimentally explored.
